Davis' DevotionsMake God Your Pilot There are many times in life when we may doubt our faith. Circumstances arise in our life and we are left questioning our faith and wondering why an event or experience is happening to us. We may become afraid and let the situation spiral out of control. In some cases, we try to go it alone and handle the situation on our own. Without taking a poll, I’m sure we all have done this before. We think we can take control of the plane and shift God into the co-pilot. I have seen bumper stickers on the back of cars that say “God is my co-pilot.” My question is why is God not the pilot? We have to put God first in our lives. We have to let Him pilot our lives. He will not lead us into danger and can maneuver the plane that is our lives out of any storms of life. The situation of Jesus and his disciples on the stormy sea comes to mind. While Jesus was asleep, the others came to Him and woke Him. They asked Him, “carest thou not that we perish?” Jesus then arose, spoke “Peace, be still,” and the storm was gone. He said to his disciples, “Why are ye so fearful, how is it that ye have no faith?” (Mark 4:38-40) We should take a great lesson from this passage. When trials and hardships come into our lives, we should not be afraid. If Jesus is the pilot of our lives, He will bring calm and resolution to our personal storm. It may not be on our time, but if we put our faith in Him, He will always deliver. He will never leave us nor forsake us. “…I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” (Matthew 28:20) As always, I welcome comments - you can email me directly at - kmetsfan@yahoo.com
